Ethiopian Athletes have a big reputation in world Athletics and Ethiopians in general are fond of the sport. The Great Ethiopia Run which takes place once every year in November is the right moment to see to participate on this ceremony. It has become so popular since it got started in December 2001 and is the brainchild of the iconic long-distance runner and world record holder Haile Gebreselassie. At least 36,000 participants take part on this race, including around 500 elite athletes and over 500 runners from overseas.
